Get off the bus at Bus Stop number 40 Port Adelaide. The Port Princess cruises the waters of the Port River which runs through historic Port Adelaide.

 As you relax the captain gives a full commentary as we view Dolphins, historic points of interest, the submarine base, the old quarantine station and  mangroves.

PORT PRINCESS DEPARTURE POINT

Red Lighthouse

PORT PRINCESS has a WHITE MOBILE TICKET BOX moored on the Wharf's edge right next to the Red Lighthouse with a large blue dolphin and our name Port Princess on the top in yellow.

PORT PRINCESS is moored between the Red Lighthouse (end of Commercial Road, Port Adelaide and the Birkenhead Bridge)

The Red Lighthouse stands on the wharf area next to the new Fishermen's Wharf Markets (marked as Queen's Wharf in your Atlas Directory).

The lighthouse stood originally at the mouth of the Port River in 1869.

In 1985 the lighthouse was installed at its present site by the South Australian Maritime Museum to celebrate South Australia's Jubilee l50 year.  Climbing the lighthouse can be arranged by contacting the Museum.

Birkenhead Bridge

New Traffic & Railway Bridge over the Port River


The new traffic & railway bridge over the Port River is now fully operational.  Diversion of heavy traffic from the centre of Port Adelaide is greatly enhancing the development of the region.

Port Adelaide has many museums to visit among them are the Port Dock Railway, S.A. Maritime, Aviation and the Military Museum.

S.A. Maritime Museum is a great place to visit in Lipson Street, Port Adelaide.  See old ships and maritime history.

 

 


S.A. Aviation Museum

Visit the S.A. Aviation Museum Southern end of Lipson Street,  Port Adelaide.

Old Historic Buildings Lipson Street

There are many Historic and stately buildings found in Lipson Street, Divett Street, Commercial Road etc.

 

 

 


Information Centre

Visit the Port Adelaide Information Centre which is situated in the old Police Station Building (Black Diamond Corner) on the corner of St.Vincent Street & Commercial Road, Port Adelaide.  Ask about their Historic Walks around Port Adelaide.

 


Old Historic Buildings Lipson Street

There are many Historic and stately buildings found in Lipson Street, Divett, Commercial Road etc.  Enjoy lunch or afternoon tea in Lipson Street Cafes.

 

 

 

 

 


Old Customs House Building

Customs House has been replaced by a more modern building and has remained empty for many years. 

However, it is still a very imposing and stately building.

As with many of Port Adelaide's Historic buildings it is still a very popular and prominent choice as the backdrop for bridal party photos.
